Bible Text: Exodus 20:1~17

Creative Title: Living the Ten Commandments

These are the Ten Commandments. If we are Christians, we should keep this word because these are the basic commandments. The first four commandments are for God and fifth to the tenth commandment are for your neighbors. We can check the first and second commandments, God hates that we believe other gods. On a broader meaning, it is not only other gods. Sometimes, we have other things that have more priority than God. It is also sin. We should check ourselves because sometimes we cannot sense. God repeated it. We should careful, “you shall not misuse the name of the Lord your God, for the Lord will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses his name.” There is a man in the Philippines, Apollo Quibuloy, who claims that he is Jesus, and he is the anointed son of God. He misuses the Lord’s name. I know, God will judge him. Do not make light the name of God and do not use it lightly. “Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy.” Because God also rested seventh day and this day is blessed. So we stop working and we become blessed too.

God said, “Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the Lord your God is giving you.” In my opinion, we can see your parents if we cannot love your parents, we also cannot love God. Because we cannot see God how can we love him? It is not only parents, this meaning also extends, we should love our brothers and sisters. “You shall not murder, commit adultery and steal.” It is right. The ninth and tenth commandments mean our relation with our neighbors. You do not give false testimony and covet  your neighbors’ goods.

Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind’ This is the first and greatest commandment, and the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the prophets hang on these two commandments.”

It is not easy but we should keep this. Christian life is love. If we keep the commandments, we should love God and our neighbors. God and your neighbors can feel and know that we love me. If they can sense this, we are a good Christians.
